A strong grip can cause the ball to fly lower and further to the left (for a right-handed player). This is because the clubface will be more open at impact, which can reduce the loft of the club and cause the ball to travel in a lower trajectory. The strong grip can also cause the club to rotate more on the downswing, which can cause the ball to veer in the direction of the player's dominant hand.
